In Alchemy the broken heart is not a symbol of permanent tragedy but a crucial metaphor for the transmutation of the self. It represents the necessary destruction of the old, ego-driven identity to allow for spiritual rebirth. A broken heart corresponds to the nigredo or “blackening” stage of the alchemical process, where the soul undergoes putrefaction. This breaking apart is a prerequisite for purification; the old self must be destroyed before the philosophical gold or enlightened consciousness can emerge. The heart is the inner spiritual center, the seat of transformation, love and wisdom, and as such acts as a vessel for the Alchemist’s Magnum Opus.
How to measure your ring size.
1. Cut a strip of paper no wider than 6mm.
2. Wrap the paper around your finger and mark the paper where it meets.
3. Check that it slips over the joints of the finger without difficulty.
4. Measure the marked length of paper and compare it to the Metric row in size chart. This should give you a good idea of your ring size.
** If your ring falls between sizes, order the next larger ring size.
